Brussles & Leuven: have you got your Visa?

If you want to come on our amazing Hall Trip to Brussles and Leuven (20-21st Feb 2010) you may need to start preparing now…

You can check to see if you need a Visa to get into France and Belgium here, but generally if you are a UK/EU passport holder then you don’t need one.

If you do need a Schengen visa, then you will need:

  • Letter from Arash explaining why we are travelling *
  • Passport valid until June 2010
  • Visa Application Form
  • Itinerary of the trip (Hostel reservation) *
  • Proof of registration at Imperial (from Registry)
  • Proof of financial means (last three months’ bank statements)
  • Proof of valid travel insurance for duration of visit
  • Two recent photographs (less than six months old)

*Please email Diogo for this.

We are going to apply for a multi-entry 90 days visa. It will cost around £60-£70, though there is a chance that visa fee may be waived if we can convince them that the trip is educational. We would suggest that you make sure you have all of the above documentation in place by the end of this term, and we can arrange for everyone to go together to the embassy to get it done in the first week of January. The visa application centre is at Grosvenor Crescent, 17, London SW1X 7EE. They are open for receiving applications between 8am and 12pm, Monday-Friday, and 1pm-2pm for the return of passports.

Wilkinson welcomes a new Subwarden!

Wilkinson Hall would like to extend a very warm welcome Oliver North, our latest recruit to the wardening team. Oli is just starting a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and he will join us just after Christmas. He will replace Marina who, after over 7 years at Imperial and almost 3 years as a subwarden, is leaving for pastures new – we wish her all the best for the future!

Hi, I’m Oli and I’m in the first year of a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. I’m excited about being a student again after a few years out working in the ‘big wide world’, and I”m looking forward to having a fantasitc year at Wilkinson. I’m originally from a tiny village in the Midlands and this is my first time living in London! I love all kinds of sports and can often be found taking one of my bikes to bits or kayaking on the Thames. I also like to cook and am always up for a chat over tea and cake – just drop in and say hello. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!
